Matthew

6“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’7Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

He who reads all the New Testament finds in its chapters a reminder of the second coming of Christ. This message is mentioned about three hundred times. Such signs are usually associated with calling the believers to sanctify themselves. As the bride adorns herself to meet her bridegroom, so the members of Christ adorn themselves with humility, love, joy, and purity.
No one can really sanctify himself due to sin. But since Christ purified us with His blood, the Holy Spirit leads us to carry out the Christian law, and creates in us the longing to apply divine love to our life. This blessed Spirit is the motive to practice holiness and mercy on earth.
No man can love God and his fellow men of his own accord. Therefore, we need God's words in our hearts that we may become the walking, living Word of God. Notice, here, Christ's parable. All the virgins knew the Word of God and experienced the sweetness of his Holy Spirit, yet the wise ones gathered much of God's power, while the foolish ones gathered only little. This is the difference between the foolish and the wise. He that is lacking God's spirit, after having tasted His sweetness, shall be lost, for only those that are moved by the Spirit shall be saved.
How can we receive the oil of God's spirit? Do not forget that the ability to receive God's spirit comes to us only through the Crucified One. It is through His atonement that every repentant sinner will have the privilege to receive the Comforter's spirit. Have the courage to ask for this great gift from our heavenly Father directly, for He is willing to sanctify all His children. Does God's spirit dwell in you? Seek the gift of the Holy Spirit, today, that you do not become lukewarm, nor fall into sin or spiritual death.
How do you become blessed with God's spirit? Read and meditate on the words of the Holy Bible, and listen to the experience of believers. You cannot fully know the Word of God only by yourself. It is fruitful to study with other believers to obtain God's guidance even though you may have read the Bible ten times and almost know it by heart.
How do we abide in the Holy Spirit? This may be done when we do not sadden the Spirit of God by our foolish behavior, but obey His gentle call, reject every sin, believe in God's Fatherhood, and serve Him with faithfulness and patience. The sanctified believer lives with humility and kindness under guidance of the Spirit. In this manner, you may glorify Christ through your life and reveal the image of your heavenly Father to others. In this way, you are more wise than foolish.

Prayer
Father, we thank You, because You granted us Your Holy Spirit as a result of Your gracious redemption, though we are unworthy and sinners. The blood of Your Son purifies us that Your grace may be perfected in our weakness. Fill us with Your power that we may not lack love, but serve with preparedness and humility, be filled with Your example, and walk in the power of Your gospel, expecting the arrival of the heavenly Bridegroom.
Question
How can we receive the power of the Holy Spirit, and how do we abide in it?
